Planetoid[]

Planetoid General
Planetoids are the largest celestial bodies in the game. They contain larger amounts of raw resources than can be found in asteroids or islands as well as raw resources that cannot be found in any other location. Resources that can be found on a planetoid include those found in asteroids and islands as well as unique materials such as titanium and uranium.

They have four distinct characteristics that determine their appearance: terrain type, shape, landform, and overall size. Terrain type dictates the climate and biome of the planetoid, with some current examples being frozen, sand, and moss. The shape characteristic of the planetoid determines its general shape. This includes shapes such as donut(torus), bowl, bullet, and spheroid. The landform characteristic modifies the shape of the planetoid based on its set type. These modifications include flat, hilly, and wavy. The final characteristic determines both the overall size of the planetoid.

The amount and types of resources that can spawn on a planetoid are not yet known, TBD. It is currently assumed to be based on the terrain type and size.

Planetoids can be discovered in the game map and can be reached once the engines technology has been researched and access to electric thrusters is available. A player is able to connect to a planetoid with the use of docking stations which then add the planetoid to the player's colony, or indeed a colony can be built on (or burrowed into) a planetoid right from the start. Planetoids can be chained together with the use of docking stations to create larger colony sizes.
